Ethelbert Williams
Ethelbert Williams is a seasoned board director and digital transformation executive with deep expertise in AI-enabled commerce, data strategy, and technology governance.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of NSF International, where he provides oversight on digital innovation, data integrity, and technology-driven risk across global certification and standards activities. He also previously served on the board of The Delta Institute, advising on strategy, technology adoption, and organizational transformation in sustainability-focused contexts.
Across his board work, Ethelbert is known for helping organizations translate emerging technologies — including AI and advanced analytics — into long-term enterprise value while managing associated governance and reputational risks. In his executive career, he has held senior digital leadership roles at PepsiCo, Johnson & Johnson Consumer, and The Boston Beer Company, leading large-scale ecommerce, data, and digital growth initiatives.
His work has focused on building AI-enabled marketing, retail media, and direct-to-consumer capabilities across complex, global organizations.
Ethelbert brings a strong boardroom perspective on how AI is reshaping strategy, disclosures, workforce practices, and customer engagement. He is particularly experienced in helping boards oversee technology that is adopted bottom-up across organizations, where governance blind spots often emerge.
In addition to his board and executive roles, he serves as an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University, teaching digital strategy and emerging technology. Ethelbert holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and is widely recognized for bridging digital innovation with effective board-level oversight.
